HandyCrypto hides folders and secures files with on-the-fly AES encryption. With HandyCrypto, there is no need to decrypt each file before you use it and re-encrypt it again when you're done, you just use the encrypted files as normal.

HandyCrypto is an encryption and access control utility for Windows. It allows you to hide folders from your fixed disks. Once a folder is hidden, you won't be able to see it using Windows Explorer or other file managers.

The program works in the background and is invisible to the user. However, there's a graphical user interface, that allows you to choose which folders you want to protect/unprotect. There are two ways of protecting a folder. You can completely hide any folder, or you can set it to be inaccessible. Encrypting a folder is optional.

The first thing you need to do after installing the program is set a password. This password is used for accessing HandyCrypto's user interface and for encrypting files and folders. In order to help you remember your encryption key, while at the same time keeping it safe, the program can export this key into a special file. There's no way to import the encryption key into the program so you must contact the publisher if you forget it.

Pluses: HandyCrypto works at system kernel level, so it's virtually impossible to break the protection. The only way to enable or disable the protection is to use the graphical interface.

Drawbacks / flaws: You can only encrypt empty folders. You can add files to these folders later and the encryption takes place automatically. The fact that you won't be able to access a protected folder unless you unlock it is another drawback in my opinion.

In conclusion: HandyCrypto is a good tool that lacks a few features.
